FLUX 3 Image Klein: an open image model that runs on 8 GB of VRAM
Black Forest Labs released a 5.6B-parameter model with 4K, editing and ten reference images. Commercial use is free for small businesses.
On October 15, Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein. It’s the second open model in the FLUX 3 family and the smallest in the company’s own comparison.
What’s new
The 5.6B-parameter model generates and edits images and accepts up to 10 references. From the full FLUX 3 Image it inherits native 4K, pixel-precise editing and bounding boxes that set element placement or confine edits. Compared with FLUX.2 Klein 9B, it has 38% fewer parameters and rates higher, the company says.
How to try it
- Locally: the INT8 build runs on NVIDIA GeForce RTX cards with as little as 8 GB of VRAM through ComfyUI or Diffusers. The distilled model produces a 1MP image in about 4 seconds on an RTX 5090 and under 9 seconds on an RTX 4070.
- Weights: base and distilled versions on Hugging Face.
- API:
flux-3-image-klein, from $0.009 per 1K image.
There’s also a Base version for fine-tuning, plus LoRA support.
Limitations
The FLUX Kommunity License allows free commercial use for individuals and companies with annual revenue under $5M, plus research. Larger organizations need a separate license or the API. Competitor comparisons rely on the company’s internal evaluations.
